The Outstanding Business Achievement Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that enrich and strengthen our region. Each year, the Community Partner Award recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond—someone whose leadership, generosity, and passion for service make a lasting impact on the community.

This year, we are proud to honour Alan Gerritsen, owner of Jerry’s Auto Body, as the 2025 Community Partner Award recipient.

A Legacy Rooted in Community

For Alan Gerritsen, community isn’t simply where he lives—it’s who he is. Alan’s earliest beginnings were right here in Lincoln, in a unique home at his family’s business, Jerry’s Auto Body.

Growing up alongside his three younger sisters, Alan learned commitment, resilience, and service from two remarkable role models: his parents. His father, Jerry, transitioned from farming and butchery to opening the auto body shop, while his mother worked as a nanny and foster parent. Together, they modeled humility, hard work, and compassion for others.

Those values shaped Alan profoundly, guiding him toward his own path in business and community leadership.

Carrying Forward a Family Legacy

After attending Mohawk College for business and graduating in 1989, Alan stepped into the shop full-time—not because it was expected, but because he believed in the legacy his parents built. When he eventually took over Jerry’s Auto Body, Alan carried forward the same core principles that defined the business from the beginning: honesty, quality, and community.

Under his leadership, Jerry’s Auto Body continued to grow not only as a trusted local business, but as a cornerstone of meaningful community involvement. Alan’s approach has always been simple: serve others first, and success will follow.

That mindset has shaped the shop’s reputation, earning the trust of generations of local families.

A Life of Service Beyond the Shop

While Alan’s work at Jerry’s Auto Body is admirable on its own, his impact extends far beyond the business. He married the love of his life in 1991, and together they raised five children. After a brief move into town, the Gerritsen’s returned to their roots in 2000, moving back to the shop property. But whether at home, at work, or in the community, Alan is known for showing up with his whole heart.

From coaching minor hockey and organizing school fundraisers to mentoring through the Calvinist Cadet Corps, Alan’s commitment to shaping the next generation has been unwavering. He has chaired both provincial and international events, led camps, and served on numerous boards—always giving more than he takes and always lifting up those around him.

Through every season of life, Alan has shown what it means to lead with faith, family, and service.

Why We’re Celebrating

Alan’s story—and the ongoing success of Jerry’s Auto Body—stands as a testament to what can happen when a business is built on compassion and a deep belief in giving back. His dedication has touched countless lives, strengthened local organizations, and brought people together year after year.
