February may be the shortest month of the year, but it certainly didn’t feel that way. Between the Niagara Tourism Summit, the State of the Region, and multiple Town of Lincoln and Regional Council meetings — both in person and online — there has been no shortage of important conversations shaping the future of our community.
The possibility of municipal amalgamation is clearly the talk of the town right now. Rumours are flying, opinions are strong, and the conversations are passionate. As I shared during my remarks at the State of the Region last week, this is a time for us to truly hear one another — to listen to what’s being proposed, what’s being questioned, and what the possibilities might be for our communities moving forward.
For Lincoln, change is already underway with ward boundary adjustments, so in many ways we’re already navigating a new landscape. This will be an important year to stay informed, stay engaged, and continue working together as a business community.
On that note, we are beginning the process of preparing for our next Board of Directors intake. If you’re interested in getting more involved with the Chamber, connecting with other business leaders, and contributing to the direction of our organization, I encourage you to consider applying.
I’m also honoured to be participating in SH Consulting Group’s International Women’s Day event this Friday, where I’ll be joining a panel discussion around this year’s theme, “Give to Gain.” If you’d like to attend, you can grab your ticket here.
And finally, I hope to see many of you this Thursday at our Business After 5. If you have a door prize you’d like to contribute, feel free to bring it along — we always love highlighting the generosity of our members.
Thank you, as always, for being part of this Chamber community.
Warmly,
Emilia Amaro
Executive Director, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce
